The Fly Honey Show re-imagines the classic cabaret to create an intimate and explosive celebration of body + sex positivity. 

Created and directed by radical choreographer Erin Kilmurray, The Fly Honeys are a fierce group of choreographers, dancers, musicians, actors, designers and performance artists who foster a safe space for advancing gender equality and promoting self-love.

Erin Kilmurray dances and makes dances in Chicago. She is a choreographer working within contemporary dance and theater, creating work that resonates as concert dance, in lo-fi performance galleries, music venues, parties, film, and theater - intentionally shift between immersive and proscenium spaces. Consequently, these works have been presented by the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, The Chicago Reader, Thalia Hall , Constellation, Metro Chicago, WBEZ Chicago, Empty Bottle Presentsand has been supported through creative residency with Links Hall, High Concept Labs and The University of Chicago (Chicago Performance Lab).

In addition to her independent work, Kilmurray serves on the Artistic Council for interdisciplinary production company The Inconvenience and is the Director + Choreographer of The Fly Honey Show, headed into it's 8th season.

 

Kilmurray received acclaimed reviews being named “Best Choreographer 2014” (Chicago Reader) and one of “Four Artists Heating Up This Fall” (Chicago Magazine). Her collaboration + choreography on Bedrooms, a dance and music film by Quinn Tsan, has been awarded with Best Film (Flatlands Dance Film Festival ; In/Motion Dance Film Festival) and Best Film Narrative ( Jacksonville Dance Film Festival) and was selected for presentation in the Chicago-Local-Film-Festival : Movies In The Park.

mary williamson* • writer // host trifecta // honey 8 cast

Mary is a founding member of the The Inconvenience and has been hosting and writing for The Fly Honey Show for 8 years! She has worked with dozens of theatre companies around Chicago including: Steppenwolf, The Goodman, A Red Orchid, The Hypocrites, and most recently learning ASL with Neverbird Theatre Project. Favorite roles include: Madeline in the world premiere of Ike Holter's HIT THE WALL, June in Leslye Headland's REVERB (Jeff and Broadway World nomination: Best Actress), and Tess in Ike Holter's SENDER (Time Out nomination: Best Actress). She is a graduate of The Theatre School at DePaul and is represented by Grossman and Jack Talent. When she is not acting she is working as an artist and designer. You can also catch her across the hall at The Den this summer in A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE GYNECOLOGIC ONCOLOGY UNIT... with Route 66. Running Aug 24th - Sept. 23rd. missi davis* • producer

As Producer, Missi provides directing support of design elements; manages the production + design teams; constructs and implements marketing + development strategy; and works side by side with Erin to forward the mission of The Fly Honeys.  

Missi is also an actress and puppeteer. Acting credits include include B-Side Studio and The Citizens Anthology with The Inconvenience. Other acting credits include Breach and As Told by the Vivian Girls (Dog&Pony Theatre Co.), Luther (Steep), The Butcher of Baraboo (A Red Orchid Theatre); and The Cabinet (Redmoon), which toured across Brazil. She served as Company and Production Manager for Manual Cinema for their fall 2014 tour of Ada/Ava which included the Tehran Mobarak International Puppetry Festival in Iran.

shannon matesky • writer 

Shannon Matesky is an actress, writer, producer, director from Berkeley, CA, now living in Brooklyn, NY. A graduate from Depaul Theater School she has worked with theaters such as Steppenwolf Theater, The Inconvenience, Court Theater, Goodman Theater and The Public. As a poet Shannon has been featured across the country as well as HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, Nylon Magazine, and BET online. Shannon has produced live events and festivals such as The Fly Honey Show, Brave New Voices International Teen Poetry Festival, and Life is Living community festival in Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Oakland, and Urban Word NYC’s Grand Slam finals at the Apollo Theater. Shannon is also author of three solo performances, She Think She Grown, We Gotta Eat, and The Saga of the Return. Shannon created and curates Queer Abstract, a QTPOC variety show in Brooklyn, NY.

John cicora • music director // composer

John Cicora is the music director, composer, band leader of The Fly Honey Show. 

John is a multi instrumentalist that has been arranging, directing, and performing music for the Inconvenience since their conception. Credits include Our House, Chicagoland, A Little Bit Louder Now, Standing Room Only, Hit The Wall, B-Side Studio, The Little Things, and Fly Honey Show. John has been working in Chicago for twelve years and has appeared in shows at Steppenwolf, Second City, Chicago Children's Theater and more.


Joseph varisco • producing co-curator

Joseph Varisco began co-producing curator with The Fly Honey Show three years following his time as Development Director with The Inconvenience. Varisco specializes in independent production and development support to underrepresented, HIV+, and queer populations most recently as Program Manager at Alphawood Gallery (Art AIDS America, Then They Came for Me), five-year curator at Salonathon, and Producer + Director of annual performance series QUEER, ILL + OKAY. Varisco is the recipient of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Chicago Community Trust, and Visual AIDS grants and was included in 2016's TimeOut Chicago's Pride of Chicago issue.

Sawyer smith • HIVE CHOREOGRAPHEr // honey 8 cast 

Sawyer Smith is thrilled to be grooving with the Fly Honeys for his 3rd year! Recent Credits include Madagascar (Marriott Theatre) The Bardy Bunch, The Producers (Mercury Theater) First Date (Royal George) The Addams Family (Mercury Theater). CATS, RENT, and A Chorus Line (Paramount Theater). Carrie (Bailiwick Chicago) Sawyer toured the Caribbean in Hairspray (Royal Carribbean).Pippin (Bohemian Theater Ensemble). A Chorus Line, Children of Eden, Sweet Charity, Sunset Boulevard, Oklahoma, and CHICAGO (Timber Lake Playhouse). ryan tang • collaborative hive choreographer // Honey 8 cast

Ryan Tang is a Chicago based theatre artist and movement maker. This is his 6th year shakin it in The Fly Honey show. He has been on the development team for several new works and is on staff as instructor for the Broadway in Chicago youth workshop programs.  He is also known to wander...Tang wander that is.

Heather Sparling is a Chicago-based designer. Huge thanks go out to John Wilson and this great team of artists.

Graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Lighting Design and Technology. Slick primarily works as a programmer in Chicago.

Alyssa gregory • collaborative honey choreographer // HONEY captain // honey 8 cast

A native of Woodbridge VA, Alyssa received her BFA in Dance & Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University. During her time at VCU, she had the privilege of working with Tania Issac, Melanie Richards, Scott Putman, and performed in the Urban Bush Women reconstruction of Shelter.

Upon her relocation to Chicago, Alyssa has worked with ompanies and artists such as The Moving Architects, EnidSmithDance, Joanna Furnans, and Erin Kilmurray. She is currently a company member with The Leopold Group.  Her work has been presented at the Chicago Fringe Festival, Salonathon, The Fly Honey Show and at Ruth Page.  lyssa is currently pursuing her MA in Performing Arts Administration at Roosevelt University.
